The Desk Attendant (DA) is a student staff member for The University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) residence halls and apartment communities. DAs are the initial contact for everyone entering the Residence Halls and assist the community development of the residence halls by providing excellent customer service at the residence hall front desk. The Desk Assistant's duties include but are not limited to answering the phone, keeping accurate equipment check-out logs, having control over the lobby and its noise level, communicating with the Resident Assistant (RA) staff and Hall Director (HD), and providing general customer service for resources provided at the desks. DAs represent themselves, the Hall the DA works in, the Office of Housing, and the University. Therefore, when the resident or guest sees you, they also see the University.

This position varies in hours per week based on personal availability and class schedule, with a pay rate of $8.50 per hour.
