Federal Work-Study Student – Department of Educational Studies
Position Summary
The Federal Work-Study Student provides general office and administrative support for the Department of Educational Studies. This position assists faculty, staff, students, and visitors by helping maintain an efficient and welcoming departmental environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist faculty with departmental needs as requested.
- Answer and direct department phone calls when the department chair or administrative staff are unavailable.
- Assist with departmental special events, including preview days, departmental tours, campus visits, and other recruitment or outreach activities.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and packages.
- Perform general office support tasks, including filing, copying, organizing materials, and other administrative duties as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Work Expectations
During periods when front desk responsibilities are complete or workload is light, the Federal Work-Study Student may work on academic assignments, provided they remain available to assist visitors, answer phones, and perform assigned work duties. Limited personal phone use is permitted during downtime, provided it is professional, appropriate, and does not interfere with work responsibilities or the department's operations.
