Academic Coach (formerly known as STEM Tutor)

The Student Success Center, in conjunction with the Library Learning Commons, is seeking qualified peer educators to assist students in various courses and in key areas such as study skills, time management, and critical thinking.

A successful Academic Coach will provide students with applicable assistance in a variety of courses including, but not limited to, science, history, philosophy, english, and foreign languages.

We hire a diverse cohort of academic coaches each year to cover most areas of study. Students do not have to be proficient in all areas. Students should be open to their own major courses and any others they feel proficient with.

In addition to initial training (electronic and in-person), and ongoing training (approximately one hour per month), Academic Coaches must work approximately 10 hours per week (minimum 125 hours per semester) and agree to the terms of employment which are tied to a Scholarship Agreement - paid from the Academic Support Fee.

Pay will come in the form of three equal scholarship payments per semester. If there is a balance on the student's account, the scholarship payment will be automatically applied to that balance. Refunds will be issued by the Bursar's Office the Wednesday following the disbursement. The current scholarship amount is $1,500 per semester.
